  • Learn How Smart Meter Technology Can Add Value to Utilities with Remote Connect/Disconnect and Energy Management and Conservation Programs

Farmingdale, NJ (September 22nd, 2010)—Dialight (LSE: DIA.L), an innovative global leader in LED lighting technology and service control electromagnetic relays, announced today that Dialight’s Rizwan Ahmad, director of global business development for smart grid and metering technology, will highlight the benefits of remote enablement/disablement technologies for electrical utilities during the SMARTricity Asia Congress 2010 set for Sept. 29-30 in Shanghai, China.

In the session, "Remote Enablement/Disablement of Electricity," set for 5 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 29, Rizwan will highlight how advances in measurement and communication technologies enable smart meters to act as a critical interface for integrated energy management in the modern smart grid. Specifically, he will discuss how remote connect/disconnect features can enable utility providers to deliver a better customer experience, improve energy management and emergency conservation programs and execute load management processes in a safe and cost-effective manner.

"Smart metering is a key component in the smart grid technology of today and tomorrow, but some utilities remain hesitant to implement the technology because they' re unsure of the benefits and long-term ROI, "Rizwan said. "New technologies enable smart meters to serve as so much more than just a measurement device. This session will enumerate those additional benefits and provide best practices for how utilities can use these to advance the next-generation of power delivery."

Rizwan is a recognized expert on wireless reconnect/disconnect technologies for electricity meters and holds several patents for his work in the development of smart meter systems.
